I was in Ottawa on the weekend, which brought the current struggles of First Nations up to the forefront of my mind. This got me thinking about representations of First Nations in art, so I dug up my photo of this sculpture, which sits at one corner of the Albert Memorial in Kensington Gardens. Each corner features a representation of the corners of Victoria's empire, and these figures (plus bison!) represent North America. If you'd prefer a more nuanced view of the lives indigenous North Americans today, you might start here.
