Save us from ourselves!

I spent last weekend relaxing it up, lakeside style. We spent the weekend at Dog Lake, which is part of the Rideau Canal system, which (Upper) Canada built after the War of 1812 to protect lines of supply in case the USA tried to invade us again. You just try it, Americans!

Dog Lake was probably the nicest lake I've ever swum in, with no creepy weeds and the (inevitable) lake beasts stayed away, although I did get bitten on the butt by a fish. You can see some photos right here!

This morning I woke up to find this radio interview with Werner Herzog about his new book, Conquest of the Useless: Reflections from the Making of Fitzcarraldo which is a book I did not even know existed! I guess it came out just this week. I was at the bookstore within twenty minutes. Werner Herzog is amazing, I think.
