"We gladly feast on those who would subdue us."
I spent a bunch of time with some friends the other night, eating indian food and talking about the Panama Canal (as...you..do?). One of those pals happened to write a great piece on dredging a few months ago. Dredge is one of those vast land-moving projects that happens almost without our notice. But how many streets on the waterfront in your city are built on dredged land? How many cities lived or died based on whether their harbours were deep enough? Getting vast quantities of goods around the world has huge consequences on the form of our cities, which is exactly the sort of thing I love to have revealed.
I wrote the gayest book you will ever read. It's called The Complete Lockpick Pornography, and it is two books about dealing with homophobia and violence in two very different ways. In We All Got it Coming, the main character approaches it trying not to give in to anger, trying to understand his attacker. In Lockpick Pornography, the main characters approach homophobia the other way. The other way essentially being genderqueer terrorism. I hope you like it!
